Physical Therapy

Whether you want to walk after hip surgery or learn to navigate your daily activities despite a permanent disability, you don't have to do it alone. The O'Connor Hospital Physical Therapy department offers a team of caring, experienced professionals who can help you achieve your goals.

The purpose of physical therapy is to treat disease, injury and disability by assessment, measurement and the use of rehabilitative procedures, manipulations, massage, exercises and physical agents. Every patient and situation is unique, and each physical therapy plan is personalized with the goal of speeding recovery and helping the patient achieve their maximum potential within their capabilities.

Services include evaluation and program planning, heat/cold therapy, therapeutic exercise, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, manual therapy (including spinal and extremity manipulation, craniosacral therapy and myofascial release), gait training, wheelchair screening, ergonomic evaluation and scoliosis screening.

In addition to its outpatient services, the department offers short-term rehabilitation for hospital patients recovering from total hip or knee replacements, neurological conditions such as stroke and Parkinson's disease, orthopedic injuries and generalized weakness from long-term hospitalization.

Rehabilitation Services is located on the first floor of the hospital. It is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
