Emergency & Trauma Services

A broken bone. Chest pain. Stroke. Medical emergencies happen every day. That's why O'Connor Hospital's primary mission is to be available around the clock to provide the help you need, delivered by the people you trust.

Located on the ground floor near the new main entrance, O'Connor Hospital's state-of-the-art, 2,371-square-foot Emergency & Trauma Services department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department was enlarged and upgraded as part of a renovation project completed in May 2005. It now features a triage area, a trauma room, a decontamination room with a dedicated entrance and three exam/treatment rooms.

Our staff offers comprehensive emergency care as part of the Bassett Healthcare Emergency & Trauma Services network. Providers at O'Connor interface with board-certified emergency medicine physicians at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown through telephone and telemedicine connections, enabling staff members at both sites to participate in patient care in a highly effective, coordinated manner. O'Connor providers receive additional support from an on-call physician in the local community. The hospital also maintains a helicopter landing pad to expedite the emergency care of patients with severe injuries.

As a member of the Delaware County Hazardous Materials Response Team, O'Connor Hospital maintains a portable decontamination tent and an emergency response trailer for use in the community.
